The Message Remix is a great idea, one that I was looking forward to having available for my daily commute. Unfortunately the choice of readers is, in my opinion, poor. The tone is so relaxing, with little to punctuate events, that it is very easy for it to become just background noise -- not what I was looking for. A little more enthusiasm or inflection (or both) would really help. Nonetheless, I appreciate having this version of the Bible available in this format.
I am very happy with the CD set. My order showed the set was on back order when i first ordered but it came within a week and a half. the price was very reasonable and as i have been looking for over a year for just the Old Testament I decided to go ahead and order the whole set since it was from the Message. Shipping was great no damages at all.
I ordered on line so no contact with customer service.
so easy to read through the bible and decipher everything in detail with words and meaning attached...great introduction..clear speaking...words stick to my mind and come out of my mouth throughout the day...love it...besidesd my message bible..its the best tool ive come across recently..
I am only up to the last CD on Deuteronomy (8th CD I think) and the narration is excellent. I really like this version - how it's like hearing a story in contemporary language. I've always become bogged down when trying to read the Bible - even The Message. Not so with this. So far, there has only been one CCM narrator. The intro music is good and the descriptive lead ins for the different books are great.
However, the first CD skipped when I put it in. It only worked when I advanced to track 3. Three additional CD's have had skipping issues. Two CD's were so bad that they stopped. The skipping began around track 15 on each of the bad CD's but it was always preempted by an annoying popping sound accompanying the narration.
Christianbook.com replaced the 1st and 4th CD's without question. I still have 2 that need replacing but I'm not going to push it. I was able to get them to play in different CD players and it won't kill me to read the little bit of what I miss. I hope the next 58 or so CD's are good quality.
