Love this combo
I really wanted the combo of the Message and Amplified but could not find it. So then I looked for my old favorite of NAS combined with the newer Message. This is a very good combo. When something does not seem quite right in the Message, I'm able to refer to the NAS which is a translation that I trust more. But the Message gives a new perspective to many passages, especially in the NT, Psalms & Proverbs. The font is smaller than I like but is a clear, easy reading type for its small size. The pages are thinner than I like, but I remedied this with a different type of highlighter which would not show through. Overall, I'm happy with this Bible.

Excellent Parallel
The NASB/Message Parallel Bible is an excellent combination of literal translation with a thoroughly modern paraphrase. The juxtaposition brings out many subtle nuances of scripture.

No better gift
I purchased this Bible as a gift to my son. He is reading it daily, and beginning to try to live by its standards for the first time in his life. He likes the dual format, where he can read the verses in a version that he remembers from childhood, yet also in a paraphrase that makes it come alive to him now in the Message. He is allowing it to change his life, after many years of trying to live it without God. There is no better gift for either one of us. (He is 44 years old!)
