readergal5 Stars Out Of 5March 20, 2009readergalTender, personal, and joyous. A nice read. Kemp's memoirs after 85 years remind us that even a simple, ordinary life has beautiful ups and downs to which we can all relate.

Tell us a little about yourself. I retired from my nursing career of 35+ years in 2006. One of my goals was to help my mother, Doris Kemp, get her story into print. For many years, Mother had felt the Lord nudging her to "write her story" - telling of God's faithfulness throughout her lifetime; through her early years when she ignored God's presence, through the death of two of her children and through the birth and life of my youngest brother Scott, who has Down Syndrome.
What was your motivation behind this project? When I first sat down with Mother to look through her journals and notes, I was struck by the great insight and emotion that infused her words. She wrote from the heart as many of the events of her life were occurring and I was inspired by her message. I felt God would indeed want this story to be told. My role, as co-author, was to organize and edit chapters and develop her story into book format. I quickly learned that I could never change Mother's words because the story was her story and needed to be told in her own way.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I believe Mother's story is a wonderful testimony of God's faithfulness to His children in all of life's ups and downs. God's promises are enough to carry us through any circumstance. My brother Scott, who has Down Syndrome, has been a special blessing to our family. In his 45 years, Scott has astounded us with his wit and wisdom, entertained us with his one-liners, and blessed us with his special, unconditional brand of love. "Scott stories" add much humor to Mother's book.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Hearing the positive responses Mother has received from those who have read The Message Glorious has been a special blessing to me. It has helped me to understand anew God's plan for our lives.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Scripture verses are a great source of inspiration to both Mother and myself, and we used many Scripture verses in The Message Glorious.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Mother is 86 years old and continues to lead our family by her strong Christian witness. She leaves all "computering" to me, her daughter, but her opinions and influence will hopefully shine through.
