I have to say I have a thing for Amish fiction, and Ms. Lewis is one of the best. I have not had the pleasure of reading the first two books in the series, while I am sure it answers all sorts of questions it also stands alone as a wonderful read.

The story follows the lives of two Amish sisters. The older sister is Hannah or Hen as everyone calls her and her younger sister is Rose. Hen has recently moved back home from her Englisher lifestyle. She married an Englisher and has a 4 year old daughter but when her marriage was falling apart she returned home with her daughter. At the beginning of the story we find her nursing her husband back to health after an accident. He is temporarily blind. Hen would love it if he would come to embrace the Amish life and they could both be baptized and join the church.

Hen and Rose's mother was in a buggy accident many years ago and has been in chronic pain ever since. Through a friend of the family's she has been convinced to try a surgery that may or may not relieve her pain. During this carefully woven tale she has the surgery and is a great encouragement to Brandon (Hen's husband) as he heals from his own accident.

It is a delightful read as Ms. Lewis tells the tale of each girl. Rose has recently had an engagement ended and in time meets a young man named Issac. Yet Rose also has a friend that she grew up with named Nick who has left the Amish. It is apparent that all though she does not want to admit it Nick holds some of her heart strings too.

I really don't want to say too much more or I will give it all away and there would be no point in you reading it. I enjoyed the journey to healing that the characters took through the pages of this book. For some it was physical healing but for many it was healing of the heart and soul. It was a fun light read!

This book is the third book in The Rose Trilogy. And I just love a good Amish story. Beverly Lewis is one of my favorite Authors. I loved this book.

Hen had left her Amish roots and married an Englisher in the last book. So in love she thought that all she believed could be left behind as long as she was with the man she loved~ she was wrong.

Life became harder and more difficult to make compromises when it concerned their daughter. She decides she must return home to her family and her faith. In doing so she leaves behind the man she loves.

Only as fate would have it ~her husbands suffers an accident and needs Hen to care for him. She lovingly cares for him all while knowing that as soon as he no longer needs her he will leave and divorce her. I will not tell you anymore for you must make this a book one that you curl up with as the days grow cooler. Such a great read!

This book was provided to be from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review~ thanks for the wonderful book.

    The Mercy

    Beverly Lewis

This is the final book in the Rose Trilogy. The story surrounds an Amish family that has 2 daughters very different at the start in their faith, family values and lifestyle. As the final book continues there are dramatic changes that occur for both young women. The oldest daughter life has come full circle with her marriage, family and faith. Her spouse has changed significantly with extended family remaining an important influence. The younger daughter has been through multiple problems with the young men that she has been courted by. Her life will again be dramatically changed in a way she never imagined. The characters were believable and the story line was believable. This is a trilogy I would recommend to people and look forward to another series written by Beverly Lewis.

I enjoyed this saga, and just finished the third book in this series. The main characters in this story are Rose and her sister Hen. I will miss my visits with this loving Amish family, they have become friends, along with their neighbors and friends!

Throughout all you wonder if Mam will end up pain free, since the accident she has lived in constant agony. You will also wonder who Rosie is going to end up with, or if she will stay a maiden. She has now moved on from Nick and is seeing someone new. You will be surprised how all this works out.

Also Hen who is taking care of her Husband Brian, who is experiencing blindness. He is staying with her in the Dawdi House, on her parents farm, a place he never wanted to be. You will be surprised who the Lord sends to work on him, but will he go through with the divorce and take Mattie Sue with him?

You will not be disappointed with this read, just sad to say good bye!

I was provided with a copy of this book by the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review!
