Michele5 Stars Out Of 5Exciting, Sizzling, yet very appropriateJune 18, 2012MicheleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have read and reread this book several times, most recently this month. I love how the author takes issues that seem black and white to Rachel, the protagonist, and makes her look at them again in the light of scripture and God's love for sinners. It has enough sizzle in it to keep me interested, but is totally appropriate for teaching my fourteen year old about modesty and the male psyche. (I would not recommend the book for readers younger than fourteen because of the details of a prostitute's life.) The characters are very well developed. The good ones have some moments of failure, and the "bad" ones some insights into spiritual things. Although the setting is different, I can relate to Rachel's expectations not matching her reality and having to ask God for his wisdom.
sundrop32Huntsville, ALAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Unexpected literary twistsJanuary 11, 2012sundrop32Huntsville, ALAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Okay, it was a great read. It was amazing how many ordeals the main character had to deal with. But I truly loved the final message. We all tend to, as Christians, at times, behave like Pharisees, putting levels to sin so that we feel comfortable with who we are. But this story gives great insight into loving those who are family members or acquainteces that go astray into things we know go against the Word of God and how we face those in the love of God. Loved the over all objective here.
I did not want to put this book down. But at times I had to because the emotional tensions were so tangible. I like how the author shows how a man is affected when he is around a female that he is sexually attracted to. He understood to keep his distance, and so did the main character. Girls need to understand how it is most necessary to not help a man to want to fall into temptation. Girls think they are "working" it so that they keep a man's attention by doing certain things that may visually keep a guy looking but may also pull him over the edge, even if the girl never meant for him to go that far with her.
This is the second book I have read by this author. I will definitely read more.
