A great exposition to go along with my various commentaries. Adds greatly to the understanding of passages.

Classic work, timeless insight, ranks with M Henry
I purchased the three volume set to use in living history. I portray the "New Light" Congregationalist minister, John Cleaveland of Ipswich, Massachusetts, who served as Chaplain of a Massachusetts Provincial Regiment during the French & Indian War. Rev. Cleaveland would have been familiar with Poole's, and would very likely have had the commentary in his own library. This is an excellent resource for me, at a mind boggling price.
Furthermore, as "yesterday, today, and forever, Jesus is the same" so Poole's insights are timeless. He also mentions the contrary opinions of others where he deems them worthy of consideration.
My rating of the quality is based on the construction, and should be seen as a positive. The type, though small, is clear. The paper is sturdy. The sewn binding looks like it will stand up to regular use, but perhaps might not tolerate constant heavy handling. There are a very few, quite minor, defects in the covers. These do not detract from the overall appearance.
I think the three volume set should be in the library of every person who is interested in a clear understanding of the Scriptures. This is especially true of those who wish to see views prevalent in centuries past.
