With tiny tears that glistened, my eyes were fixed on you, and thinking of the life we'd share we softly said, "I do". Our hearts were knit together from the time that we first met, and memories were gathered that we never will forget. While daily living life with you, you saw the real in me, and still you chose acceptance, a loving mystery. With many happy times gone by and others when we cried, some days we'd share so endlessly, while other days we'd hide. With all the ups and downs we've had in learning to be friends, I know that in this heart of mine, I'd marry you again.

Tell us a little about yourself. I have been married for 35 years this July. I am the mother of two grown children and two beautiful grandsons, Jude and Charlie.
What was your motivation behind this project? When I wrote this poem I remember someone asking me if it was about our marriage. It took God working in my heart for me to see there were things I needed to work on. Things like honoring my husband and treating him like a friend.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? When people read this poem I hope they will be challenged to ask themselves if their marriage is one that would honor God.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As I said before, it wasn't till after I wrote this poem that God began working on my heart. Then I saw things I could do differently.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I was strongly influenced by Lois and Don Peterson, two missionaries who opened up their home so young people could know about the Lord. Watching their interaction helped me see what a healthy marriage looked like. One of my favorite authors is Amy Carmichael. Her love for the Lord is clearly reflected in each line she wrote.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Marriage is work. People make extravagant plans for their weddings, hoping each little detail will be perfect. If only they put that kind of work into what their marriage could be. We live in a world where divorce is more easily accepted. I would like people know that a good marriage is possible and you can get years down the road and realize that it was worth every ounce of effort.
