Kathi Lipp's, The Marriage Project: 21 Days to More Love and Laughter is a refreshing way to build fun and intimacy into your marriage. Lipps intends to help you create more joy, fun, love in your marriage.Before digging into the "projects" the author builds a foundation of why we should be intentional about marriage, prepping for the projects, how to handle rough spots along the way, learning to date again, and 20 dates for less than $20 all before the fun begins. Lipp encourages spouses to go through the book and the projects together, but also encourages you to do the project on your own as an "an act of worship" to your spouse. This theme runs throughout her book, as she reminds us how we should esteem and love our husbands and wives. Lipp has included personal stories meant to encourage you before and during your 21 days. I really liked the honesty of chapter 10 "But my marriage isn't so hot". If you are feeling like you are having a hard time mustering up the desire to do your projects, or fearing that you will somehow "fail" at creating more love in your marriage read this chapter. This book is an easy read and the author has done most of the homework for the reader, so that you can focus on doing the projects rather than thinking them up. The projects range from spending just 30 minutes together, to cooking together, creating a Hallmark Holiday, writing down what you like about your spouse, Lingerie, and more. Each project is packed full of items to help you through like: purpose of the project, prayer, creative ideas to make the project your own, and stories from past women and men who have completed that project, and a place to journal your own story or reaction.

Shes talking to me. That was my exact thought as I read Kathi Lipps witty and action-inspiring book, The Marriage Project: 21 Days to More Love and Laughter. And who doesnt want a little more love and laughter in life, by the way?Kathi Lipp writes with such a candid, humorous flare, I had to keep reminding myself I dont actually know her in person. Her humility and eagerness to build a lasting marriage remind me of some of my dearest friends. One of those friends is the man I married. We read the book together. I loved how Kathi divided The Marriage Project into two parts, one part devoted to preparing for the projects and the other part for implementing and acting on each project. Understanding the idea behind 21 days, the amount of time it takes to make or break a habit and reading about seeing my spouse through new eyes got my ramped up and ready to do the projects with my husband.And why did we decide to do the projects together? Kathi provides the answer. We can talk about marriage all day long. We can buy books and listen to podcasts about how we should have great marriages. We can listen to sermons and do Bible studies. But unless we put some God-acts to our God-talk, no one benefits. And now you want to know if it worked. Heres how Ill answer that. Yes. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Marriage is work. Ive never been shy about admitting that before and I feel no need to be now. Add three little kids on top of that and a recent death in the family and it becomes even more work. We dove into The Marriage Project at an ideal time. Our marriage needed some creativity and we needed to get intentional about our time together. The Marriage Project encouraged us with very specific and fun ways to reconnect. The result: we bonded. We loved and laughed a little more and for that Im deeply grateful.

Not just a book for women, Kathi Lipp provides a how-to plan for both husband and wife to spend twenty-one days focusing on the love and fun in their marriage. This plan is not about fixing your spouse, but about growing together through love and laughter.Twenty-one days is not so long to commit to a project, but long enough, Kathi Lipp hopes, to form new habits that will last beyond the twenty-one days. Through daily projects (ideas for being more intentional about marriage), weekly projects (date nights) and bonus projects (sex), Kathi Lipp provides ideas for both husbands and wives to bless each other in simple yet powerful ways, leading to More love, more laughter more lingerie!The Marriage Project is an easy read filled with Kathi Lipps fun and humorous voice and stories. These projects can be tailored to almost any situation, including parents with young children or married couples who need to stick to a tight budget. I have already tried a couple of the daily projects, even though my sweetie and I have not yet planned out our twenty-one day project.I enjoyed reading The Marriage Project , look forward to working through it with my sweetie, and would recommend it for any married couple.Thank you to Kathi Lipp for providing me with a free copy of this book to review.
