Through personal anecdotes and careful examination of Scripture, Carolyn McCulley challenges single women to regard their singleness not as a burden, but as a gift from God that allows them to perform a unique role in the body of Christ.
Windsor, ONAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Encouraging read for Christian singlesAugust 24, 2012Windsor, ONAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This book is written to singles, specifically women, who are wondering the dreaded question_ will I ever get married? McCulley writes from her own perspective as a Christian single woman in her 40's, sharing her highs and lows and her journey with God through them all.
McCulley does open up and share stories and situations that I know we can all relate to when it comes to being single. I appreciate that she reminded us that first we are called to represent Christ. So she puts it out there_ "How am I honouring God through my singleness?" Our relationship with God should be first and foremost and then truly the ‘rest' will fall into place in God's timing and perfect plan.
Topics includes: how to deal with the hard questions, seeing the gift of ‘singleness'. She also provides a guide to relationships through scripture from Proverbs 31. The quality and characteristics listed in scripture are a great guide to us as women on how God has called us to live in everyday life.
I enjoyed the read, as a single woman in her 30's, however I felt like McCulley took a lot of quotes, some very long, threw in her own random thoughts and then put them together into one book. Although I enjoyed many of the quotes I felt at times McCulley dug in pretty deep theologically and that's when I tuned out. I didn't feel that was necessary.
I did however close the book feeling encouraged on this journey of singleness.
Hannah Sutherland4 Stars Out Of 5November 25, 2009Hannah SutherlandPreparing for the future while using the time that God has given us, is a hard balance to achieve. Carolyn McCulley practically gives suggestions on how to achieve this goal. What I enjoyed most about this book is that ideas I had were mentioned and encouraged. "Did I Kiss Marriage Goodbye?" Is a God honoring book full of Biblical principles for Christians to live by.
