Product Description

More than ever, young people need to be thoroughly grounded in the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith. Cults and false teachings are currently threatening to capture the minds and hearts of the spiritually naive.
Since its first printing in 1933, the Manual of Christian Doctrine has been a trusted and effective tool for parents, church leaders, and educators who are serious about training teens and young adults in "Thus saith the Lord." The new Second Edition has carefully preserved the doctrinal accuracy of Berkhof's original work while updating the style and format of the text material for readers in the twenty-first century.

This is a great little theology book! But as the previous reviewer implied, beware, Berkhof is an unashamed Calvinist--and so am I! And if you're not careful, you may be persuaded to become a Calvinist yourself, especially after reading this book! But don't despair, if you become a Calvinist, you'll be in excellent company. You too could be standing in the ranks with such great Christians as Augustine, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, John Owen, almost every Puritan, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Spurgeon, D. Martin Lloyd Jones, R.C. Sproul, John MacArthur, John Piper, etc., etc., etc (Wow, there are a lot of Johns in that group!). Not a bad crowd to be identified with! Anyway, go ahead and buy this little book, read it, and see what happens. Who knows, you may find yourself appreciating your Christian doctrinal heritage more than you may have ever thought possible!

This book is written from a reformed stand point. The author takes positions that are contrary to Baptist, Lutheran, and Catholic views. The author takes stands against pre and post-millenialism and supports the view of limited atonement.

This is a very serious course. This is not for the student looking for a "warm, cozy, feel good" kind of study, but one who wants meaty theology. You cannot beat the price and there is plenty here to flesh out for a full year’s course work.
