Following the band’s auspicious debut, Reason for Motion, Canada’s Manic Drive reunites with producer Brian Hardin for Reset & Rewind, an engaging sophomore effort that jackets dark but spiritual themes with a fast-and-loose blend of rock, funk, pop, classical, hiphop and R&B. From the opening kick of the fist-pumping anthem “NYC Gangsters” to the plaintive piano-and-strings that close “The Inventor,” Reset & Rewind marks a journey of passion, pain and loss in a fallen world—equal parts rock & roll manifesto, hardboiled drama, and desperate plea for God to rescue us from this world.

Songwriter Shawn Cavallo addresses difficult issues with sympathy, from the hopeful ache of “Blue” to the strain of loss in “Eleven Regrets” and “December Mourning.” The track “Obvious” confronts Christian posers, while “NYC Gangsters” and “The End” encourage believers to stand up for their beliefs.

Musically, it’s a veritable musical smorgasbord, mixing dance grooves with metal guitar riffs (“Blue,” with guest vocals from Kevin Max), acoustic guitar with hip-hop flava (“Dancefloor,” with guest rapper M.O.C.), and industrial drive with pop choruses (“Obvious”). Throughout, the songs are infused with thick, urgent and sometimes surprising vocal harmonies.

With its second disc, Manic Drive continues to push the boundaries of faith music. Reset & Rewind will quickly dismiss questions about any “sophomore slump.”

This is a great CD. The songs and styles on this album are pretty diverse; but, who doesn't like diversity? Manic Drive is not as big as some other bands out there...YET!... but they have real, raw, special talent and they can really rock it. The songs on this CD will win over listeners. Some of the songs are so beautifully crafted and offer such great messages of truth and hope. Others are aggressive, fun and catchy. You will be singing along and you will have a great time. The only songs I'm not too hot about are "Dancefloor" and "December Mourning". Aside from that, buy the CD and get your ears and your rockfist ready! It will not disappoint if you are a true music lover.

Reset and Rewind is undoubtedly one of the most unique CDs I've ever listened to. Manic Drive have a fresh rock edge to their music, and it shows through in songs like Obvious and NYC Gangsters. However, they're also surprisingly talented at slower songs, which was showcased beautifully in the final track. I would highly reccommend this CD to any fan of Christian rock who is looking for something a bit different from the norm.

a person that likes better music than this music
i first saw the music video of 11 regrets and it was ok. then i bought the cd and it was the worst! as soon as i got i listened 2 it and it was SO bad i immediately listed it on ebay. the description on the web page said its "musically diverse". it sure is. really different from real music, music that makes u WANT 2 sing along and means something 2 u. this makes u want 2 turn it off and never listen 2 it again. if u r even thinking about buying this cd i'll tell u now, DON'T BUY THIS CD!!! don't let the samples 2 the songs fool u into buying it. if u r a real follower of REAL modern rock u will save ur $ or buy a better cd from Spoken, The Almost, Dead Poetic, Kids In The Way, or Still Remains. they r WAY better than this beginer band.

This cd is amazing. These guys are on an indie label but don't let that fool you. They toured with such national acts as Seventh Day Slumber, Pillar, and Fireflight. Awesome cd featuring Kevin Max from DC Talk. I would encourage anyone who likes good rock to purchase this album.
