Product Description

For every person who has ever wept and wondered, "Why am I suffering?" Kreeft observes the endless, random, seemingly pointless pain which affects people and seeks to be our guide to understanding. Like Job, the author relates his wrestling match with God concerning suffering and brings us on his journey of understanding that the only way to win was to lose. Peter Kreeft, professor of philosophy at Boston College, is the author of such well-received books as Between Heaven and Hell, Making Choices, Socrates Meets Jesus.

Publisher's Description

This book is for anyone who has ever wept and wondered, "Why?" Peter Kreeft observes that our world is full of billions of normal lives that have been touched by apparently pointless and random suffering. This account of a real and honest personal quest is both engaging and convincing. I have read books and articles and listened to lectures and sermons on suffering, but none has satisfied my desire to understand it. This was the first analysis that I have encountered that helped me really understand what suffering is all about. When I began the book, I was a little apprehensive about the author taking me on a journey, but I decided to give it a chance. He truly does bring you along through various understandings of suffering and helps you reach a point of understanding that you need to view suffering from the correct perspective in order to comprehend the existence of the mystery of suffering. Every person should read this book. I did not like some of the author's conversational style, but it was effective in getting the author's point across.

This is a must read. The depth of thought that the author explores is really incredible. This book will make you stop and think. Some of the conversational literary style is tedious but the overall content of the book is well worth the money you pay for it. This is a book to read many times over throughout your life.
