Product Description

Schreiner's original New Testament Theology grappled with theological methodology in the New Testament as well as the major themes that emerge from the New Testament canon. In this book, Magnifying God in Christ: A Summary of New Testament Theology, Schreiner leaves out the historical and methodological issues and gets down to business straightaway.

Thematic in scope, Schreiner deals with the "already-not yet" theme in chapter one; God the Father in Chapter two; Christology in chapters three through seven; and the Holy Spirit in chapter eight. Chapters nine and ten are anthropological addressing "why the great saving work of the Father, Son and Spirit is needed" and how people should respond to the Gospel, respectively. Chapter 11 deals with the "continuity and discontinuity" of the Gospel with the Law, and chapter 12 is reserved for ecclesiology.

Magnifying God in Christ: A Summary of New Testament Theology is an excellent abridgement of Schreiner's full treatment of his subject matter in New Testament Theology. This book will make an excellent selection for anyone who wants to become acquainted with the major theological themes of the NT, or with New Testament theology as a discipline. It is readable for all students, both lay and academic and will make an excellent resource in introductory NT courses, or courses on Christian Theology and/or doctrine.
