This entertaining story of a little French girl in a convent style boarding school will appeal across the ages. Little Madeline may be small, but she's full of spunk and gets into all sorts of mischief, and gives dear Miss Clavell, the matron, a few nasty scares. I think part of the character of this book is the drawings! The story is told in rhyme form. An added bonus is the drawings of famous places in Paris, which children will enjoy spotting. A useful addition to a unit study on France, for the younger children.
