I hardly know where to begin with this book. I almost feel unfit to review it. It was a pure treasure to read. Every word to be pondered. Every curve of the story to be enjoyed.

Readers cant help falling for the Ballantyne family. Upon entering their home, you quickly realize youve been welcomed into a real family and made witness to their strengths, weaknesses, victories, and failures. I appreciated each character for being real and imperfect.

The setting, the dialogue, and the historical detail grabbed me, while intriguing dangers lurk in the page shadows. The authors craft and vision is articulately subtle and entirely captivating. This series is quite an inspiration to my own aspirations as an author.

Can I just say I loved Wren and James? I enjoyed getting to know them and cheer for them as they worked their way through the highs and lows of their relationship, their hidden feelings, and misunderstandings. Its complicated, yes. Youll love it! ;)

The beautiful, epic journey over land and in Wrens heart was mesmerizing and memorable. I was eager to reach the last page. Yet it was a bittersweet reward. I may have closed the book, but Im still there in Wrens world in my heart. Thank you, Laura. Thats all I can say.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publisher for my copy.

Rowena Ballantyne is thrust into Pittsburgh society when her father returns home after being gone since his marriage to her mother. With her mother gone, her father feels the need to return to the family shipping business. But Rowena is having a hard time merging her rural Kentucky upbringing with her high society family.

I haven't read anything by this author before. That will now change. Her characters had depth and were so entertaining. The plot felt true to the time period, but wasn't cookie cutter. The story line was refreshing and drew me in. The descriptions were just enough to give me a beautiful picture in my mind. I felt like I was living the story. The romance was sweet, but not overpowering. Not once did I feel thrust into the middle of a series. Everything flowed and I had to remind myself that I was jumping into a story already in process. I'll definitely be checking out the other books.

I received this book free of charge from Revell Reads in exchange for my honest review.

Loves Fortune is beautifully told. Laura Frantz possesses such a wonderfully rich and deep manner in which she writes that the words simply flow from the page in delicious phrases. Her descriptions are captivating and meaningful and her writing style is unique and enthralling. Wren is a gentle and sweet soul, willing to support her fathers need for family despite her desire to return to her comfortable and familiar home. She strives to form relationships with those around her in spite of the difficult society. James is a man of deep morals, willing to work for what he knows is right, despite the cost. The storyline is interesting and told at a pleasant pace. A few plot points felt frustrating, such as Wrens fathers disregard for her feelings and Jamess inability to appreciate Wrens friendship. Overall, however, this novel is recommended for readers who enjoy a book with interesting history, good character depth and development, and fantastic writing style.

It's time to wrap up another series. The last book is always exciting and sad to look forward to. Love's Fortune closed out this wonderful series perfectly. It brought a conclusion all of the story arcs of all the characters from each book.

Rowena, or Wren, is a girl who has enjoyed her life in the her small community in Kentucky. It's a quiet life and she has her family's memories there. However, without warning, it all changes and she is shoved into Pittsburgh society. Her whole life, she has been content to run around and help her dad Ansel in his fiddle making. Now, in the north, she has to abide by her aunt's admonishments and tight fitting close that don't allow for an extra breath. I felt suffocated for her. Not only is she pushed into this new life by her aunt, she had to battle it alone. Her father has been forced to travel to help the family business, as Silas has gotten older and can't handle the travel.

I felt so bad for Wren in this book. Everything she ever loved is taken from her and she is told as a Ballantyne, she needs to do her duty and secure a proper match in this season. What a way to say, the only thing you're good for, is for connections. And that was said to her by her aunt and cousin...feel the love! Thankfully though, Ellie and her family are there to protect Wren when they can...and what a family it is! Ellie's house with Jack is full of love. With the lack of support of her dad nearby and the push from certain family members, it was easy to see why Wren made the decisions she did.

James is such a dedicated character. He has a deep respect for Silas and Ansel. His loyalty to the family and his dedication is wonderful. He also has a great passion for helping people. I thought James was quiet character, but he led with his actions.

The romance of this story was a slow build I thought, which wasn't a bad thing and added another depth to the story. Things could have been worked out sooner, if Wren or her cousin Izannah had spoken a little more openly, but considering everything that was going on between the two households, getting a word in edgewise was hard.

I enjoyed how this series grew with each book. It showed how things change and morph over time with family and how some people never change in all of that time. This was a fitting ending to the Ballantyne family.

Everyone who loves a good book has a favorite author. Laura Frantz is mine. I am always elated to read one of her books. Loves Fortune is another novel by Laura Frantz I will be adding to my shelf of favorites. It is third in her Ballantyne Series and it is magnificent!

While this book stands alone, I enjoyed seeing all of the characters from the prior novels in this story. At nearly 400 pages, this book is no novella, but I could not put it down until I had finished every last word. At roughly 2 a.m. a few nights ago I turned the final page with a sigh of satisfaction . In my state of exhaustion the following day, I was tempted to read it again to savor it. But I am saving my second read for an upcoming lengthy plane ride.

In Loves Fortune, Wren Ballantyne travels to Pennsylvania to meet her extended family, most for the first time. She is thrust into unfamiliar territory for a simple girl from Kentucky. A handsome steamboat pilot, James Sackett, is there to help her navigate all of the rules of society. It is the relationship between them that kept me turning pages through the night!

No one writes like Laura Frantz. She is a historian, a poet, and a master of detail. Her stories are not overdone, they are simply wonderful. I devour every chapter like its a Godiva truffle. If you have read the first two books in the series, you will cry when you see Eden and Silas Ballantyne in their later years. I know, because I did!! Thank you Laura Frantz for another amazing novel!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by its publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I have not been compensated.
