Product Description

Sheltered since birth at her Kentucky home, Rowena Ballantynehas heard only whispered rumors of her grandfather Silas's vast fortune and grand manor in Pennsylvania. When her father receives a rare letter summoning him to New Hope, Rowena makes the journey with him and quickly finds herself in a whole new world--filled with family members she's never met, dances she's never learned, and a new side to the father she thought she knew. As she struggles to fit in during their extended stay, she finds a friend in James Sackett, the most valued steamship pilot of the Ballantynes' shipping line. Even with his help, Rowena feels she may never be comfortable in high society. Will she go her own way . . . to her peril?

    Excellent Read!

Love's Fortune by Laura Frantz is a great read. This is the first book I have read in the series and the story does stand alone, but now I cannot wait to read the preceding books! I loved the historical aspect, the family background of immigrants and a few characters that I could tell were nasty nellies in the preceding books.

Laura's ability to bring the characters to life with her words quickly captures your heart and mind. I could not put it down!

Wren has grown up in rural Kentucky knowing barely nothing of her Father's wealthy family in Pennsylvania. The musical aspect was an added storyline to savor.

Family intrigue and schemes for forced marriages make this an exciting tale of family, love, romance and faith. The patriarch of the family is faith filled and an honest business man, I like that he passes down his integrity to at least one of his children. No matter what station in life, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and Book Club Network for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I received this book free of charge from Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book! Written in Ms. Frantzs classic style, this heartwarming story is just like its cover lovely and deep. From a rich, detailed plot and authentic characters, to intrigue and redemption, this book is the complete package. Frantzs attention to historical detail and gift for storytelling are evident throughout this touching story. It is the perfect conclusion to the Ballantyne Legacy.

"Love's Fortune" is a good conclusion to the Ballantyne Legacy trilogy. While this book can be read as a stand alone novel, it is best to read the first two books in the series before reading this one to completely understand the Ballantyne family history. This last book in the series centers around Ansel Ballantyne's daughter Wren. I have mixed feelings about this book as I did with the first two in the series. I do like the historical details in this series. This book has details about social seasons and high society life in the mid 1800s. I like how each of Ms. Frantz's heroines are different from each other in terms of personality, social class, where they are from, what their goals are, etc. In this book, it was interesting to read about how Wren was a Ballantyne heir, but she had no interest in the high society life that is expected for a Ballantyne, but instead wanted to return to her simple life in Kentucky. It was also nice to see characters from the last books in this one and to find out what has changed in their lives since the last book.

I don't care for how detailed the author can be with the romance parts of these books, however. The kisses, embraces, etc. are more detailed than in a lot of other books I've read in the Christian romance genre. The romance in this book also seemed to be more like a love at first site romance rather than a relationship where the characters get to know each other first before being in a romantic relationship which I felt was different from the first two books in the series.

Overall, if you've read the first two books in this series and liked them you'll want to read this one. It's a good ending to the trilogy.

*I don't recommend this series for those under the age of 18.*

A good end to a great series

I very much enjoyed the story of Wren and James. How they met, were placed together for her debut, and came together in the end. I can't point out a theme for this book except that family is a strong thing when they stick together. I really think this series could just keep on going, and I would happy with that. But alas, it has come to an end. And a good one at that.

I was so excited for the third book in the Ballantyne series to come out because I absolutely loved the first two. Book one, Love's Reckoning, was a very dramatic novel that I have read a few times now. Book two, Love's Awakening, was a bit lighter but quite enjoyable. I found book three, Love's Fortune, a bit weak as far as the story line goes. I guess I am used to Laura's books being pretty dramatic and full of trouble. I didn't feel this book had much either. It was smooth and pleasant with times things could have gone from bad to ugly, but they didn't. The trouble just seemed to wash away.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes! Would I recommend it? Yes! It was written in a way that it is not necessary to read the first two. However, I recommend reading those as well because they are fantastic.

Laura Frantz brings us a historical romance with a hint of suspension. Her use of vivid imagery brings the story to life and pulls the reader in. The plot flows effortlessly and kept me turning the pages. Even though this is the third book in the series, it's easily a stand alone novel. Her well developed characters weaved their way into my heart. Rowena "Wren" Ballantyne has just lost her mother and is dealing with many emotions, but lets music soothe her soul. Dealing with her grief suddenly the life she knows goes under a drastic change. Your strength of character, courage and faith emerge during difficult times. I was amazed at what I saw in Wren. I would recommend this book to anyone. I received this book from Revell via the Book Club for and honest review without outside influence
