How We Love : Discover Your Love Style, Enhance your Marriage
August 18, 2016
Excellent book. Interesting, easy to read, and important information. Even for one who is over 70, and never married. (No gifts in that area.) Thank You, Focus on the Family, for having both authors as guests on your radio program. Their explanation of the ways that people end up as Pleasers, Avoiders, Vacillators, Victims, and Controllers (and best of all - Secure Connectors :) ) - this 'insider knowledge' is a big help for anyone who has ever held a job or served on a committee or interfaced with the public. Even the never married will be well served by the personal stories provided by the book How We Love. And - for those of you who ARE gifted enough for the high-demand (but high reward) state of life known as marriage - I welcome you to read / study How we Love together - and to benefit from it. Welcome aboard !
Outstanding! Helps you identify your own love style by giving you the test as well as examples of each. You can easily relate and see yourself through the clear descriptions of each style. It also gives you a workshop of questions to help you get started. It offers you hope with no condemnation.
I had tried many marriage books, but this book really helped me to see how much anger I was bringing to our marriage. I fit the vacillator profile. Seeing how I was contributing to problems helped me to have more patience and advocate for myself in a more productive way. I can't say everything is perfect yet: I've got a lot to work on, but things are much calmer as I've been able to recognize how much of the turmoil came from within me.
A wonderful, insighful book. Great for someone to see how their childhood affects how they relate to their spouse or friends/co-workers. Great question/quiz section as well as pracitcal workbook to help improve weak or difficult areas in your relationships. Highly recommend to all who seek to improve communication skills in any relationship or just to understand themselves better.
