I have fallen in love with the "Love Finds You" series from Summerside Press. As always, Debby Mayne writes characters that speak to my heart. I am drawn in and feel the emotions they are going through. I've even caught myself saying a prayer for one of the characters, forgetting for a moment they aren't real.
I felt as though I was in Treasure Island throughout the story. I also love the way she weaves real life situations into the book. I can understand where they characters are coming from, and I can relate to what they are going through. Her books always give me a sense of comfort.
Love Finds You In Treasure Island Florida by Debby Mayne is an enjoyable little treasure! A delightful owner of a bike shop meets intriguing bachelor caring for aged parents in this story of finding treasures in unusual places. The characters in this book all have a way of stealing a piece of your heart. From the bickering parents attempting to adapt to life with dementia and age, to the sister who just doesn't seem to have a clue, it all comes crashing down around Amanda's shoulders when Jerry walks into her bike shop. I enjoyed the clever banter and the realness of life. The other interesting part was that the hero and heroine were not the stereotypical mid-20's duo, but rather finding love in the middle age years of the 30's-40's. It will attract a different set of readers just for the relatability of singleness past the 20's and how that affects their world.Definitely a good, warm hearted read. Simply and pure with a quiet element of faith.
Treasure seeking is for tourists. After years of watching other people dream, Amanda Burns has come to the conclusion that some things just arent for her. Her life is as stable as it can get with a mother whos just a bit eccentric and a younger sister who is more than a little flakey. Certain that keeping an eye on those around her is the closest shed going to get to excitement, shes completely at sea when handsome Jerry Simpson walks into her bicycle shop. The thing is Jerry has come to the same conclusions. His parents need him. Theres no time for relationships, and even if there were, what woman would tie herself down to a man who is primary caregiver for a pair of adults that have more energy and mischief than someone half their ages? Much as Amanda intrigues, hes positive that treasure isnt meant for him.Sometimes you cant see whats right in front of your face. In this fun and enthusiastic tale by Debby Mayne you meet the most delightful cast of scheming characters. You cant help but cheer for them as they push this couple off balance just enough to wind up in each others arms. But all the meddling in the world wont be enough. It takes God to reveal the ultimate treasure to be found in His divine plan.Another great offering from the Love Finds You series from Summerside Press, youll find in this book the perfect vacation read. I cant recommend it enough!
I love reading Debby Mayne's books. No matter how she builds her stories ... with laughs, with a little mystery or a lot of romance ... there's always something that touches the heart right at the center. In Love Finds You in Treasure Island, Florida, Mayne has created believable and identifiable characters in a charming surrounding. Her writing is exquisite, and the payoff at the end makes me a longtime fan of this writer.
Amanda Burns, the captivating, older heroine in the novel - not too old, but not young, either, tells the story in Love Finds You in Treasure Island Florida. Amanda owns and operates a bicycle shop in the tourist town of Treasure Island. She is the mainstay for her family consisting of mother and younger sister. She falls for Jerry Simpson, who comes to visit once a year with his parents. His father has beginning Alzheimers and his mother has Parkinsons. His mother wants to see her youngest son married and happy. But how can that happen when they live in Atlanta?Burned by a previous man, Amanda is careful, maybe too careful, yet cant deny her feelings for Jerry. Debby Mayne has a feel for her characters, brings them to life as they conquer the problems one faces when taking care of a family member.
