ChristianBookPreviewsIn Melody Carlsons novel Love Finds You in Sisters, Oregon, Hope Bartolli finally returns to her hometown of Sisters to attend her grandmas funeral. To Hopes surprise and her two sisters dismay her trip wont be a quick roundtrip since her grandmother, Nona, left Hope everything. Now Hope must decide between staying in Sisters with the family she has run from or return to her city life in Portland as a corporate lawyer. Hope must learn to rely on God if she is to come to a proper decision.
Carlson had my attention from the first sentence and held it throughout the whole novel with her witty dialogue, giving the characters charisma and making the novel an easy plot to follow. Her dialogue among the three sisters, Faye, Hope and Cherry, brings out the unique characteristics of each girl. Each sister is facing trials in her life--Faye with a divorce, Cherry wanting a divorce, and Hope deciding where to live. Working without each others help, they fail miserably. Once they all come together and allow each other back into their lives, things begin to change for the better. All the changes begin when Hope lets go and gives her life over to God, as in 1 Peter 5:7, setting the example for her sisters. I recommend this book to all women, young and old, who are going through trials and need encouragement and to any women who enjoy a great love story. Although the underlying message of this novel is to trust God, it is not pronounced in the characters relationships. These relationships show how far people can come when they decide to trust God and let go of their burdens. Hope learns to trust God and finds a variety of forms of love in her hometown of Sisters, Oregon.
