Marty Claridge is a young woman reluctantly headed west with her husband, Aaron to start a new life. When Aaron dies suddenly, Marty is left far from home and in a sea of strangers. 5 stars is not even high enough! I rate it 10+! I saw the movie(s) and enjoy them so much, I started to look for the DVD's. I found Love Comes Softly and Loves Abiding Joy, but wasn't able to find the others (in stores). I finally got on the internet and found this 'wonderful' website. I also found that the book series seemed to piece some of the movies together. I purchased the first series of books and am already on the 4th (I'm not much on reading!). Even though the stories are somewhat different from the movies, I have found them so enjoyable reading and picturing myself being a part of their lifes, in the travels, everyday trials and tribulations. I'm looking forward to the 2nd series, but also feel disappointment already that there won't be anymore writings in this series. I will also be purchasing the DVD Series, so I can enjoy the lives of our Frontier Settlers on screen. I do look forward to reading Janette's other wonderful books, the first set being 'A Prarie Legacy'. Thank you Janette for your beautiful books and Thank God for giving us a a wonderful author.

I have seen all 7 movies and can't wait to see the rest. They are all very good. I only wish there were more. They have inspired me to read the books but I wish the author would write about the lives of the boys, they all seem to be focesed on the women.

I enjoyed this series when it was on Lifetime and purchased it for my mother for Christmas. It is entertaining and interesting as well because of the historical setting. My mother loved it as well.

It is a very nice movie that even my children can watch, we love little house on the prairie that Michael Landon directed, so this is directed my his son Michael Landon Jr. There wasn't any bad language, it showed faith in the Lord, it shows that in a Christian's life there are trials & tribulations. We love watching it over & over.

To add to my earlier review, while i think that the acting is superb, and i love Katherine Heigl as Marty, i have to agree with the last two reviews. The first movie was very much like the first book, in that the situations that happened in the movie are the same as those in the books, with each movie it gets more and more untrue, and when it reached the fourth movie, the only thing similar about the movies is the names of the characters.

The movie is great, be sure to read the books which are even better! As the movies go on they are less like the books. as someone else said except for the names of characters, the movies are TOTALLY different from the books. I based my rating on a comparison to the books.

While this is a "nice little movie" I found this and the subsequent movies in this series nothing like the books. The "Love comes Softly" series is one of my favorite christian book series and I was extremely disappointed that except for the names of some of the main characters and a few out of context situations it was nothing like the book. As the movies go on they become less and less like the series, it might as well be a completely different story.
