Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a writer, pastor and church planter living in Durham, North Carolina with my beautiful wife of 25 years. We have two kids in college.
What was your motivation behind this project? To encourage Christians to pray together! Many of us feel we should, but we're not sure how to carry it out. This is something we can learn from previous generations of believers. Praying with others can become one of the greatest blessings of our Christian life!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? God loves it when we pray together, and moves in the lives of Christians who seek him together in unique and powerful ways. My real hope is that we will see what God alone can do in answer to heartfelt, humble, united prayer.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I found myself inspired again and again by what God had done in centuries past in answer to the prayers of his people.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? First, the Word of God. We need to understand that praying together is a biblical concept! Charles Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, D.L. Moody, Billy Graham, Nicholas von Zinzendorf, Charles Finney, E.M. Bounds, and many others were influential in this work as well!
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Jesus promised that where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them (Matthew 18:20). When we meet in his presence, we find the encouragement, blessing and help that he alone can give. Praying together is a privilege and opportunity which we don't want to miss!
