Then she catches a glimpse of Jack MacGowan, the man who ruined her life years before. But even more shocking is the sight of Jack's five-year-old daughter Faith, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Shannon's own daughter Kylie. Is it possible that their similarities could be more than just coincidence? Could Faith be the daughter that Shannon has believed to be dead for all these years?

Can a secret be kept forever?
Five years ago, Shannon Astor left the beautiful high-mountain country of West Texas as a single mother. She was desperate for a fresh start and a way to keep the secrets of her past buried. It almost worked.
Until a chance to make a better life for her daughter leads her right back home. To the very place of the past betrayals.
But it also leads Shannon to horse-trainer Jack MacGowan--her handsome high-school nemesis, now a widowed father. His daughter looks so startlingly like her own that Shannon can't help but question the circumstances surrounding her daughter's birth. Wary of each other's intentions, Shannon and Jack reluctantly join forces to untangle a deep mystery that swirls around Shannon's parents, a lost Spanish treasure, and a legendary black stallion.
If Shannon can learn to entrust her secrets to the man falling in love with her, the truth just might set her free.

nonnamaryville, tnAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Loss and DiscoveryMay 7, 2015nonnamaryville, tnAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Shannon Astor became pregnant in her final year of college and gave birth to twin girls. Afterward, the babies were taken to the nursery. When the nurse came back with just one of the babies, Shannon asked about her. She was told the baby had died.
The father of the babies left town, her parents were deceased, so Shannon was on her own. She decided to leave her small town and start over.
She and Kylie lived in San Antonio five years. Then she got a job offer as a veterinarian in the town where she was raised. Her uncle died and left her the ranch. When she and Kylie arrived at the ranch, it was in terrible condition. They stayed with friends until she could make the necessary repairs.
When she was examining some horses, she saw a little girl who looked exactly like Kylie. The little girl's name was Faith. Faith's father, Jack was looking for her and found both girls looking at butterflies. Jack and Shannon couldn't help but notice how both girls looked alike. They discovered Faith and Kylie were born the same day, the same year and at the same clinic. Jack had dark hair, and his deceased wife had red hair. Faith, Kylie, and Shannon had pale blond hair, and all three looked alike.
This is the second book in the Lonestar series. This contained suspense, romance, distrust, stolen horses, loss and discovery. The storylines of the minor characters didn't make much sense to me, and I didn't feel they were adequately brought to a conclusion. However, the on/off relationship of Jack and Shannon was interesting and the mystery of the twin babies was explained.
Vickie5 Stars Out Of 5June 17, 2010VickieColleen Coble has done it again. This book held my interest from beginning to end. The characters were interesting and the story riveting. I found myself agreeing with prayers and coaching when things didn't go as they should. I really enjoy this author. I find as I discover the authors I look for anything they wrote. I will definitely be looking for more from Colleen Coble.
Kim4 Stars Out Of 5May 5, 2010KimLoved it! Just finished reading it on my flight back from the UK. Love the romance...makes you really want to work on your own marriage and keep that romance alive. Love the struggles but and how they work them out..but that it doesn't take the whole book to do so...hate books that struggle until the last chapter we like more than just happen endings...so good stuff throughout is awesome!!! I am a FAN!!! More spiritual lessons would be nice...but really appreciated the forgiveness and trust messages in the book...I will be reading all Colleen's books.
Ashley5 Stars Out Of 5March 17, 2010Ashleyawesome book. I couldn't put it down for days (it didn't take me days to read it, though, because it was so interesting) but i would definitely recommend it to readers who love suspense and romance put together. (I already got my Mom and my sister hooked on it)
C1 Stars Out Of 5March 8, 2010CWhile this book was entertaining I prefer a book with a realistic plot and characters I can identify with. While I can overlook aspects of a plot that are a bit unrealistic, this plot was way out there somewhere--almost laughable. Even aspects of the heroine's character weren't consistent. If something so small that Jack did could "ruin" her life, it seems unlikely she would have also had the strength of character to overcome all she did and be such a "strong woman" as Jack saw her to be. Totally inconsistent to what I've seen in people. However, if you're looking for entertainment and you aren't the analytical type, it's a good book.
