Just at a time I was discouraged, I picked up this book to read. Every chapter lifts you and encourages you.
Olivia lost her beloved Frank and is struggling to keep restaurant going. Then along comes Will with a past he does not want to reveal. He gets a job as a cook as current one is leaving.
Will comes up with a way to keep restaurant afloat. But eventually his past is revealed.
Yet there is forgiveness beyond God's forgiveness. I wish I could say all churches forgive like one in this story. I have been in some that do and some that don't.
If you are struggling, read this book. There are three books in the series. This one can stand along but recommend you read it before moving on to others. Experience God's forgiveness anew and encouragement.
At last I have found an author whose books challenge and inspire me to be more than I can be, and I don't have to wade through a thick book on theology to achieve it. MacLaren writes down-to-earth, relatable characters with normal, everyday struggles who somehow by the Grace of God and His divine power and might find a way to trust Him fully. I love loved Livvie's Song. Olivia was tender to her children, yet tough to the core and downright stubborn about giving her heart to Will. Will showed a strenght of character commendable to us all. After ten years in prison one might think he'd emerge a hardened soul, but that's where God's grace comes into play.
Don't miss this wonderfully crafted story. I honestly could not put it down. From page one on, I GOT HOOKED!!! And even after finishing it I'm still struggling to get that hook out of me. This is a story that won't let go!
I had the chance to read the advanced reader's copy, and this book captivated me from start to finish. Love the way the main characters interact with each other - just the right amount of tension and conflict. This story sings, and even after I finished it I couldn't get the people out of my mind - sort of like a melody that keeps playing itself over and over in your head. Simply loved it!
I enjoyed reading this book. Putting lives back together, and forgiving oneself with God's help.
I loved the interaction of Will with Alex and Nate, once he comes to the dinner, he becomes a Father figure for them. He truly loves them and they know it.
I also enjoyed the way Livvie and Will begin to act around each other. Of course, there are always problems, and it seems that people who are not quite right in the mind have found them. There are answers to questions about things that happened years before.
This is the first book in the River of Hope Series and I'm glad there will be more!
