KimScottKentuckyAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome Thought-provoking book!July 10, 2014KimScottKentuckyAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just finished reading Living In The Pink by Sharon Tubbs. I enjoyed this book of short stories and found I could relate to many of the characters. Reading this you will find someone in the characters that you have either lived through their story or know someone that has. There are 15 short stories, that tell of jealousy, divorce, infidelity, abuse, addictions, lack of faith, and more. Each chapter is a story of different church members but all of the stories tie together. This book would be great for a women's group. At the end of each chapter is a section "Think About It" which gives you questions about what you have read and bible verses to read along with it. It is a great thought-provoking book, what would you do in a given situation, how would you try to help a friend or family member, or what would you do if it it was you? The author shows in these short stories how no one is perfect. I LOVED this book! I highly recommend it, it is an awesome thought-provoking book!
I received a free copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for my honest review rather it be good or bad. Thank you.
MollieAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Meeting Friends Who Wear PinkAugust 20, 2012MollieAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I can't see the color pink the same way again! "Living in the pink" is the place between being completely pure, and being disobedient. It's half-truth living. Sharon Tubbs brings a sense of this thinking through stories of fictional characters. Camille, Corrine, Chandra, and especially Sister Pinkie become personal friends through reading their backgrounds. The friends I met in the book wear pink, but I realized I wear pink at times too.
Read this book like it is a collection of short stories. The beauty of the stories woven together is comforting. It's a chance to "bump into" a character whose story you already know. This style of writing made me feel like I've attended the Believers Ministries church. Getting to know the characters, seeing their flaws and their strengths, made me feel at home. The author does an excellent job of making the girls real and active participants in each other's stories. Their stories clarify what it means to "live in the pink."
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.
