Dianne Szwedo5 Stars Out Of 5Great project for a science fair!February 25, 2016Dianne SzwedoQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you do this project in cold weather or want to teach a full life cycle, Insect Lore will sell you additional larvae food for a second generation (do this right away because by the time you get the food you will be close to needing it). With a little research and a visit to your favorite florist for the appropriate flowers and leaves, you can breed a second generation in the habitat. The adult butterflies only live a short time and will breed readily with each other, lay eggs, and then will die. The project brought my children and now my grandchildren to a simple understanding of life and death with the hope for and reality of the next generation.
Gay Waterstradt5 Stars Out Of 5Fun for all agesJune 24, 2015Gay WaterstradtQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I bought this for my niece's children. When I worked in the Montessori school, we did this every spring with our students. Great way to explain being born-again in Christ to little ones, from caterpillars to butterflies! My niece's children are releasing the butterflies in two more days and are so excited!
csamAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Amazing!April 7, 2015csamAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We chose to embark on this endeavor. It was exciting! Watching the transition was absolutely unforgettable. When it was time to release our beauties, we knew we wanted to do it all over again. We added branches in our habitat as well as fed the creatures apple slices, etc. This project does need a good amount of attention, but is well worth it! Be sure to read all the info. carefully. . . .Warm weather. Shipping fees to order caterpillars. Etc....
Mama T.1 Stars Out Of 5PLEASE read!February 27, 2015Mama T.Quality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1You should know before you purchase this that you should wait until the temperatures are warmer. We did not think about that when we ordered our caterpillars and once we got them the instructions in that pack said to wait until the temp was above 55 degrees, we were not able to release them because the temp was to cold and per the instructions of the company insect lore, (I talked to them on the phone - they do not have a phone number to call but you can get them to call you by sending them a message) But anyway, our butterflies died within a few weeks. My kids were sad!!!!! And I felt so BAD! I wish I would have know to wait when ordering this.
