Life makes more sense when we understand the Bible better. And that’s what Listening to God, the newest book from Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz (Bruce & Stan), is all about. If God Himself were teaching you about the Bible, Christian living, the world, and the church, what would He say? Or how would He explain Himself, Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit? Every day for an entire year, Listening to God presents a brief, easy-to-understand reading on one of these seven vital topics, as if God Himself is speaking. Over 12 months, you’ll learn basic principles and doctrines of the Christian faith, truths that will transform the way you see the world and live your life.
Bruce and Stan have co-authored more than sixty books about the Christian faith, including bestsellers such as God Is in the Small Stuffand it all matters. They are passionate about presenting the truth of God in a manner that is correct, clear, concise, and casual.
Listening to God is an excellent resource for Christians who are looking for meat rather than milk. It focuses primarily on Christian growth and can be used for both individual and group Bible study.
The farther I delved into the book, the more I wanted to keep going. It offers factual information, has depth, and is in no way watered down.
Listening to God challenged me and caused me to consider fresh aspects of the familiar gospel message.
In order to get the full benefit of the well-presented material, I encourage readers to allow ample time for prayer and reflection as they study.

IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5A devotional with a different viewpointMarch 6, 2012IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Listening To God, Experience His Presence Every Day is written by Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz and is published by Barbour Books.
This is a devotional that will take you through all 52 weeks in the year. Divided by the days of the week each day's devotional is written in the first person. At first it is hard to get used to. The authors write as if the Lord or Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit or the Bible or even the church is actually having a conversation with you. I think the concept is a good one but the book itself is a bit of a let down.
I found the devotionals a bit confusing at times. I did like how the authors explained the principles they were discussing and enjoyed the many verses that they presented. The writing style is kind in nature and not a book I found to be condemning in nature. You will learn more about the Lord and what He wants for you as you live as a Christian here on earth. You will also get a better understanding of how you can make a difference for Him while living here. This was not the best devotional I have read through, but it does have helpful information if you stick with it.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
