The love Inspired line is some of the first inspirational romance books I started to read almost 10 years ago. These books are great because they are a little shorter then a regular novel but the content is filling. The Dry Creek series was first started back around 2000. It's a long running series so if you love series this is a great one yet you can read any of these books individually and not be lost. This book is kind of a series in a series as its book two in what I am guessing is going to be a three book series based on three brothers. Jake is coming home to Dry Creek for his brothers wedding. As he is about to leave Cat shows up with her daughter and Jakes life changes forever. Cat has come to find Jake to tell him he is a father so in case something happens to her then her daughter will be taken care of.

What I liked: The characters where enjoyable. I liked both Jake and Cat as well as Jakes mom and Cat's daughter is an adorable little girl. The story line was interesting and I felt that we got to know the main characters pretty well.

What I did not like: Even though the story line was interesting I felt it was a little lacking. The one thing that bothered me the most was that the spiritual side of the story was very weak. Jake was a gambler and had lots of money and also did not trust in God. In the end even though he did come to trust in God again it was not very believable and it happened so fast I was like "that's it?"

Over all it was a fun book to read and I enjoyed it. I just felt the climax of the book happened kind of fast and left me wishing for more of a bang. I look forward to reading more of the dry creek books and recommend them to my readers.

Jake Stone was about to leave for his brother's wedding when Cat, his close friend from his teenage years, shows up unexpectedly. She and her daughter end up traveling with him to his hometown of Dry Creek, where Jake hasn't visited for 10 years. The story deals with their relationship of the past, and how that will translate into the future, and the issues each has to deal with in order to come to terms with the past and future. I hadn't read any books from the Dry Creek series before, so obviously I didn't know all the history behind the characters, but that wasn't a problem at all. This book was worth the read. I was quickly drawn into the story, and it was interesting and humorous to experience the characters' developing relationship. I received a free advance copy of the novel from the author in exchange for writing this review.

Janet continues to write wonderful stories about Dry Creek! This one is her best book yet, in my opinion. Jake and Cat are believable and honest characters. The book is hard to put down once you begin reading it. The storyline captures you from the first chapter and you want to keep reading to see how it ends. I love how Janet continues to make Dry Creek stories fresh and relevant to today's world!

Jake Stone is coming home for his brothers wedding. Jake had a troubling youth and now that he is back home he is ready for new challenges that lie ahead.

Cathy Barker single mom to daughter Lara wants the best for her young child and is willing to protect her at all costs. When Cathy was younger she ran away leaving Jake to pick up the pieces.

Is Jake willing to be the kind of guy a child can look up to? Can he be a knight in shining armor? Can Cathy trust a secret to the one person she values above all others even if it means losing her heart in the process?

I was entertained by this realistically romantic hard to put down read. With well developed characters and charming scenery this is a book that is sure to please! Lilacs are my favorite and I loved the way the author incorporated them into her story. This is the first book I have read from the Dry Creek Series (and will not be the last) I found I was able to easily jump right into the storyline without any problems, although is part of a series, it is an excellent stand alone novel. Dialogue and plot flowed well without any dull parts. I would highly recommend this book to others. Thanks so much to the author for providing a complimentary copy to me for my review. Enjoyed it!
