Lifepac Social Studies, Grade 3, Workbook Set
This product is easy to learn from
This lifepac workbook set is easy for a 3rd grader to learn from about some of the geography and culture of 9 states. It gives a small town America flavor to each state and tells it from a child's perspective. It increases a child's understanding of maps, the state's major resources, and what visiting or living there would be like.
It is also especially well suited to a child that may be a slow learner and need simpler material.
However, I had to wonder when reading it how a third grader could take a whole school year to learn geography from this lifepac. I realize that I am reading it as an adult and do not have my own children, but I could finish each lifepac workbook in less than a week, reading it for an hour a day. If a normal 3rd grader took twice this much time to learn the material, they would be finished with the whole set in 20 weeks (5 months).
My conclusion was that more geography lessons could be added on about other states or a child could learn from another history and geography curriculum at the same time.
The other curriculum I am very interested in is The Noah Plan. The Noah Plan curriculum is much more advanced acedemically compared to this AOP curriculum. I think both could be taught at the same time without overtaxing most children.
Nevertheless, I liked these workbooks and learned some things I didn't know before. I felt they were very helpful.
