Lifepac Science III (or Physical Science II) is definitely much more than first glance provided. Our son has taken an active part in researching curriculum he will use for his high school studies. He has looked at BJU, A Beka, Apologia and other publishers, and has repeatedly come back and selected Lifepacs for Science III, Bible, English I and his Elective class. We have been putting together his stuff and in deep research, we have compiled, where necessary, Youtube Playlists to help teach some things that the general lessons do not always provide deeper lecture for the test questions suggested. Like any program, do not just go into it thinking there are no errors and it is perfect. We've always found problems in every curriculum. However, if my son loves it and can't wait to get started, then this is a blessing - and we will go at it with the same approach we always have. We put more into each lesson (section) and we don't rely only on the tests. We have him compile notebook, do further research and the first test is for study-we always give an alternate test as the main test. This way, we can discover any thing that might be troublesome. Lifepac is a great program. We have friends who have children who have gone on to big name universities and have PHds - and they studied using Lifepacs in High School. IT IS what you make of it. If you do nothing and just hand it to your child and hope they don't need you around--you will not like it. If you don't use the teacher guide and add the extras offered for deeper thought and critical thinking, don't complain that it is too light and a lazy curriculum. YOU are the teacher and YOU set the stage for how a curriculum will work. You OWN the curriculum, it should NEVER own you. Great program. AWESOME price. Very dependable.

This physical science LifePac is just as outstanding as the others we have used. I have a child with a reading comprehension problem so I like the fact that the course is divided into smaller booklets and the text for each lesson is short. This allows her to answer questions every few pages. Having self-tests every few lessons reinforces her comprehension.

I'm very happy with the experiments in the 9th grade Science Lifepac. As I was going through the workbooks for the 2011-2012 school year planning lessons and activites, my list of supplies for experiments is very short. There are a few we will not be able to do because of the supplies needed.

I expected teaching 9th grade science to be a challenge but I feel this curriculum did not help much. We are now in the 7th of 10 booklets.I consistently find the content of the chapters were are not detailed enough for the expected answers on the tests. I expected the test answers would include definitions or explanations covered in the chapters but this is not so. The calculations in the Astrology portion is not clearly explained and I required additional material to cover this area.If you do not have previous experience in teaching 9th grade science DO NOT pick this curriculum.

The program overall looks very thorough and fairly easy to read. To get the most out of this product the parent should be prepared to go over the material with the child and complete the hands on activities. A parent with little or no physical science (pre-physics) experience should reach out to someone with a science background for assistance for further explanation. While the text is easy to read, it does leave some "Why?" questions for the student. This product works best for a child who enjoys reading and has good reading comprehension. Overall, a good product for the cost.
