My child is enjoying the workbook. That is a good thing. She has asked to do the workbook and likes how it is laid out. She is in the 1st grade.

This was so fun! We had a ball. Everything was very clear as to what we had to do. I liked the hands on part of it. Lots of projects to help the children learn. These products helped my children to learn how to read and spell. I gave my children a spelling test, thinking there is just no way they are going to be able to spell these words. But they aced them. We say our prayers and sing our songs and thank the lord for this beautiful set of books. God bless your work on helping to teach the children about our Lord.

We are using Lifepacs for every subject except math this year, and I think all the others are good. I do not feel the same way about Lifepac First Grade LA. Consider: La covers several subjects; handwriting, grammar and punctuation, writing, phonics, reading, and reading comprehension. Lifepacs do not have enough pages to practice these skills in the depth necessary for mastery. We are using the TM and all the other Lifepac subjects except math. A key to using Lifepac LA successfully is to understand the the skills are reviewed and practiced in the material in other subjects. You must use at least two other Lifepac subjects, with the TM's to review handwriting and phonics being learned in the LA Lifepacs. However, even with me using these as effectively as possible, my son's reading and handwrititing were taking a nose dive. In addition, the teacher reads *with* the student for the first several Lifepacs, and phonics are used throughout even the Lifepac reading lists that have not been introduced yet. For instance today we were to learn and practice a word list of "th" words. Words such as "third" were in the list, though r-controlled vowels have not been covered yet. Compound words including /th/ were in the list, though compound words have not yet been covered. I like AOP but I really recommend you check out Horizons for Phonics, Math and Spelling and leave Lifepac LA on the shelf.

Good material. Well planned and easy to use. The lessons are divided into units with a unit test at the end,and there are several self tests in each unit. The self tests are fun and my daughter enjoys the fact that she can see her progress section by section.
