I have home schooled my children since they started school. I have used this for all my kids and love the workbooks.

Not enough history
I was really disappointed with this curriculum. My then 1st grader completed it very quickly and didn't seem to enjoy it either. I ordered the 2nd grade level for him because the 1st grade level appeared below grade level. I would say it's a Social Studies curriculum instead of History & Geography. If you're wanting your child to learn about Christopher Columbus and the New World, how to use maps, learn about the continents, or the early colonists and how America became a nation then you need to look elsewhere. I'm doing the Heritage Studies 1 & 2 from BJU Press with my 2nd grader this year to catch him up on history and geography.

I think this is pretty basic for a second grader. A lot of it is fairly common sense things that you teach your child through everyday conversation. There were a few segments she enjoyed, but for the most part she was bored. And a lot of it was really beneath her. Overall, not the most inspiring social studies curriculum I've seen. However, some people might enjoy it. If this is a subject that your child really enjoys though, I'd get a curriculum with a little more meat to it. It touches on a lot of things, but never really seems to go too deep into anything.

This might be fine for first graders, but I think it's way too simplistic for my second grader. I do like the Lifepac Language arts, Math and Bible though!
