I've implemented parts of Charlotte Mason, and a lot of Classical education in my home. Lifepacs are a breath of fresh air. Listen Moms: Simplify your life! Why are we letting the ideal be the enemy of the adequate? Lifepacs are so easy to use. Open, read, take tests, assign a few of the projects. That's it. The project ideas are good.
If all your child was exposed to in life was Lifepacs, then perhaps their history education would be a little lacking. But if they are reading historical fiction, non-fiction, and watching documentaries these are really more than adequate.
Also, if you just hand your children the Lifepacs leave, then they will do OK and retain some. But if you discuss the information with your child, and read some of it with them, and assign the projects, they will retain much more and it'll be more interesting. Of course, the beauty of Lifepacs is that if you have a very busy day, the children can learn on their own. When you are less busy, you can involve yourself.

Books came as expected. They are high quality notebooks for a reasonable price.

This is the 3rd year we have used the Alpha Omega lifepac complete set. Both my kids seem to really enjoy the short workbooks. They feel great when they have completed a workbook and have learned some great information.

For those of us, apparently few in number, who believe that history is the best foundation for understanding our world, this set is perfect. We went through them twice and our son has a very stout understanding of American history that rivals that of most public high school students. If you want a systematic framework for American history that is accessible to a fifth or sixth grader then here you go. I assume the later grades (after the world history, 6th grade) will build on this foundation. We can't wait!

I find this set to move far too fast through history. I do not see how anyone could remember all the imformation at this pace. I like this Life Pac, but I have slowed down to a crawl, adding library books on each topic to our lessons and extra study pages from other sources.
