The stories in Life Among the Lutherans reflect everything Keillor fans have come to expect of this master storyteller. Some are familiar, including the quintessentially Lutheran "95 Theses" from Lake Wobegon Days, others are new. Laugh out loud about the church directory filled with photos that are just plain awful. Share the moment when Pastor Ingqvist receives a leather-bound copy of his sermons. Keillor's command of every little detail of life in Lake Wobegon is bound to entertain, surprise, and make readers - even those who aren't Lutheran - feel right at home in the mythical community where "all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average."

The ability to laugh at ourselves is one of them. The book is hilarious to say the least. My husband ran into our room several times to see if I was alright, I was laughing so hard. But the book is more than funny, it is very tender and sweet.

Dolores Kiser1 Stars Out Of 5August 28, 2009Dolores KiserI didn't read the book because it was bought for a gift. I did glance through it and looked at the 94 theses the author wrote. I saw three words explaining three theses I didn't appreciate. This book was intended as a gift for a person going to a Lutheran Seminary. I do not want to give material of that kind to a potential Lutheran minister, so I returned the book. Not what I would give for a gift.
