Clive Staples Lewis was born in 1898. Known as "Jack" by his friends, Lewis and his good friend J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, were part of a writer's club, The Inklings, who would meet at the local pub to discuss story ideas. Lewis's fascination with fairytales, myths, and ancient legends coupled with inspiration drawn from his childhood led him to write The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, one of the best-loved books of all time. Six further books in the immensely popular Chronicles of Narnia followed, and the final title, The Last Battle, received the Carnegie Award, one of the highest marks of excellence in children's literature.

So far, each day's reading seems to come into the middle of a thought and finish before the thought is complete. One might do just as well to slowly read through the Lewis books used in this devotional. I ordered 4 to give as gifts, none had satin ribbon markers.

I didn't think it would change anything in my life, but now I think about the words C.S. Lewis writes and am able to connect them with my life. It has been so encouraging in my senior year of high school I have read almost every book of his, but this devotional gives you the best parts! This book is for any C.S.Lewis connoisseur. And if you don't already love C.S. Lewis, you should. =)

Valerie Endicott5 Stars Out Of 5April 8, 2009Valerie EndicottThis book was recommended to me by a good friend at church. C.S. Lewis can be challenging for me at times, which is not a bad thing! As I trust my friend, I purchased it and am so glad I did. Yes, there are days I have to read the same page several times but the brillance and humility of C.S. Lewis takes me somewhere that no other author can. I so enjoy his perspective and wisdom.
