Dinner with a Perfect Stranger
“Here’s a wonderful feast for the mind and soul! Pull up a chair and eavesdrop on this provocative conversation. If you’re like me, you’ll hear questions that match your own–and answers that can change your life.”
–Lee Strobel, author of The Case for Christ, The Case for Faith, and The Case for a Creator
“The choice is yours: Enjoy a delicious meal of, say, veal fantarella with grilled vegetables. Or spend a quiet hour reading Gregory’s book. You may find an altogether different sort of hunger has been sated by the final page. Brilliant in its simplicity, fearless in its presentation of the truth, Dinner with a Perfect Stranger is one invitation you’ll want to RSVP.”
–Liz Curtis Higgs, author, Thorn in My Heart
A Day with a Perfect Stranger
“Brilliant. Masterful. Filled with liberating truth.”
–Stephen Arterburn, best-selling author of Every Man’s Battle, founder and chairman of New Life Ministries
“Fasten your seat belt for another marvelously divine encounter with the Perfect Stranger! Once again, Gregory masterfully demonstrates just how passionately and intimately our God loves each one of us. If you are looking for an encouraging faith encounter, the Perfect Stranger books are the most palatable and powerful tools of our day.”
–Shannon Ethridge, best-selling author of Completely His, Every Woman’s Battle, and Every Woman’s Marriage
“While I like Dinner with a Perfect Stranger very much, I loved A Day with a Perfect Stranger. This book has the potential to make people think about what drives them, what keeps them from God, and what will ultimately fulfill them. In a feelings-based and satisfaction-driven society, this is an invaluable tool. People are hungering for the answers to questions Mattie gets to ask. I can’t wait to hand it out to friends who do not yet know the Stranger in their midst.”
–Lisa T. Bergren, best-selling author of The Begotten
“Deftly using narrative to touch on common objections to belief in God, [Gregory] contracts religiosity with relationship with God. As a light, brief introduction to the faith, A Day with a Perfect Stranger is a good pick for women seekers.
Dru Kolb5 Stars Out Of 5November 19, 2008Dru KolbI found it insightful as regards to actions of others in a corporate setting. It breaks down the true value of each person's commitment on a spiritual level and how they apply it. When not aligned with that goal, one could get lost in the corporate shuffle. Truth be told, it freed me up mentally to cope with any surrounding spiritual lacks and maintain my own drive to prevail in all thoughts and actions in a Christ-like manner. It was a true privilege to read and apply in my daily life to ensure that I shift my perspective and apply my thought energy when interacting with others on a spiritual level at all times.
nora5 Stars Out Of 5March 23, 2008noraAnother special and profoundly unique book from David Gregory that features Logan an organizational Analyst this is his dream job he is so thankful to have. He basically trouble shoots each level for the Director of Universal Systems. He reports to him all the problems that he can find through his research. This parable breaks down what exactly is this Christian Life anyway. What would it look like if Corporate America was to analyze all the levels of spiritual growth. The parable is clear, clever, and simple in its description. David Gregory definitely doesnt beat around the bush he tells it like it is thru the Director and the Shareholder characters. Logan documents the problems he finds on each level then consults with the Director on each discovery. As Logan and the Director meet to discuss what is really going on at each level; I found myself searching my own heart and actions to see where I stood in my walk as the problems for each level unfolded between them. You will find yourself doing the very same thing!! This story will give you a new view of the what spiritual growth looks like. It also gives you a glimpse into eternity!! I love how David Gregory gets to the heart of the matter in this book just like he has done in his other books Dinner with a Perfect Stranger and A Day With a Perfect Stranger. Youll definitely want to add The Next Level to your collection!
Cay5 Stars Out Of 5March 19, 2008CayI was very pleasantly surprised with the overall plot of the book. It takes you through the different phases of your Christian walk, from the first level of yes I know I'm saved but I'm still going to do my own thing, to the top level I'm so close to my Savior that I'm comfortable talking to Him and being just what He made me to be.David Gregory did a excellent job taking this book to "the next level."
Ane MulliganSuwanee, GAAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5January 18, 2008Ane MulliganSuwanee, GAAge: Over 65Gender: femaleIf ever a back cover copy depicted a book's content, this one does. Another amazing modern-day parable from the author of A Day with a Perfect Stranger and Dinner with a Perfect Stranger, The Next Level will challenge you to be on Gods agenda, not yours. Short and an easy read, its a book youll never forget. I was amazed and tickled with Gregory's ability to depict the Christian walk in corporatese. On one of the levels, you'll see all the world's religions allegorized in the business world. The Next Level is a must read for all Christians, but be prepared. You won't get through it without thinking, "Ouch."
Harriet Klausner5 Stars Out Of 5January 14, 2008Harriet KlausnerLogan Bell quit his first job after graduating with a business degree; he hated his boss the jerk and felt out of place as a human resource specialist. He would prefer to play games, but dad the business executive keeps asking the question: have you found your next job?-------------He visits Universal Systems where the number two guy the Director asks him what he wants to be; he says an organizational development analyst who looks for problems. The Director hires him as the first OD in the massive organization and sends him to the first level to analyze what he sees and report back to him his findings. When the Director feels he understands that level, he will go on to study Levels 2-5 sequentially. Logan soon realizes that the employees of Level 1 never perform anything related to the goals of the company. The Director sends him to Level 2 as Logan begins to understand how Universal Systems operates and makes a profit.------------This entertaining easy to read and comprehend parable actually works on two levels. First there is an obvious business application involving the staff working to achieve the companys strategic goals instead of their own agenda or their individual interpretation of the top management objectives. However, on a much deeper level, David Gregory makes a case that for people to feel their life is complete with a high sense of self actualization they must look beyond themselves to choose freely to encompass Gods plan for guidance; for that is maximizing ones self on the fifth level. Although enjoyable with a fascinating concept, this reviewer doubts many readers will take to heart David Gregorys well written parable of finding your place in life.--------------Harriet Klausner
