Peter T. O'Brien has authored NT commentaries onColossians, Philippians, and Ephesians. He definitelybrings his skills to bear on this commentary on Hebrewsand has produced a very readable and yet scholarly work. O'Brien has confined the Greek exegesis to thefootnotes and has provided a lucid exposition in themain text. When compared to others, O'Brien is deeper and more targeted than F.F. Bruce, but is notso deep as Paul Ellingworth (both who have writtencommentaries on Hebrews). If your level and tastelie in-between Bruce and Ellingworth, this commentaryfills that gap among commentaries on Hebrews. O'Brienfollows the outline format of George Guthrie who highlights exposition and exhortation pericopes inHebrews. Definitely worth having if you want somethingsubstantial but you do not go as deep as Ellingworth or Westcott on Hebrews.
