I have enjoyed this product since my first Christmas. It is the highlight of my Christmas. Each of my 19 years since my mom first sewed it has been a blessing of visiting the stories that lead to my Savior's birth. It creates a time of family unity and points our eyes to Christ during the sometimes busy holiday season. I would recommend this product to anyone. The work that must be put in the first year will hopefully be well worth it!

Let's Make a Jesse Tree is a workbook to make a pictoral Advent calendar for any year. A tree stump sprouts with a single branch bearing reminders of events in the history of Christianity leading up to, and including, the birth of Christ. Decorative symbols of felt are added each day of Advent with a Bible text and devotion to read. I had two granddaughters, ages eight and ten, for a visit, and we enjoyed making one for each of them. They learned to measure carefully for the background, make a paper pattern for each original branch shape, then cut out of felt. We photocopied the small patterns to make the felt pieces. The embroidery was simple and fun. Background needs to be heavy woven fabric so the Velcro on the pieces will adhere. You can use the stick on Velcro, rough side only. We tried to sew Velcro on the felt, and this was way too tedious.

My children and I really thought this was a neat idea. I would have liked more instruction on the stitches. I also wish the patterns would have been bigger. Overall, we are happy with this pattern book.
