(more a 'fantasy film feeling' than realism). interesting romantic story angle. seemed like a soap opera with a surprise ending. the original music was very uplifting. there were a few good points made about Scripture and forgiveness. no bad language or nudity/ sexuality. no violence. a lot of 80's humor and catch phrases. perhaps PG for adult situations. i would say it is a product worth $5.-8. , but not worth the $15. i paid. no hard feelings. still love Christian book and applaud the makers in striving for a product that is family oriented.

Tell us a little about yourself. Before making Leaving Limbo, I was a playwright and theater director who ran a Christian theater company for fifteen years. I loved doing that, and the thought never crossed my mind that I would ever make a movie. I didnt even know it would be possible. I never went to film school. I didnt have any industry connections. Then one of my plays called My Wonderful Coma, produced in 2008, really stayed heavy on my heart for two years. I saw it in my minds eye as a movie but kept it to myself. When several people encouraged me to make a film, I prayed and felt driven to turn that play into a screenplay. God opened the doors to move forward, and I learned about filmmaking on the set as I directed Leaving Limbo.
What was your motivation behind this project? To reach a wider audience than I could in theater, with the message of redemption and restoration that is found in Christ alone.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope folks will allow God to speak to their hearts in their current situations and trials. The films messages have started some meaty and intense conversations about spiritual awakenings from lost or wasted years, forgiveness, letting go of the guilt from past sins, and surrendering to Gods plan with complete abandon.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As much as I want to say it was a wonderful experience, I have to confess that making this film was difficult, exhausting, and even painful at times. As I mentioned, I learned as we went along. It took six months to complete production. Post production took three more years. On the set I was out of my comfort zone, which is theater, and completely dependent on God. In hindsight, I can say I wouldnt trade the experience for anything. I got to see God work firsthand. I cant even begin to tell you how faithful He was and is. I had so little to work with, no budget, no knowledge, and no experience. But everything that I had, I offered up to Him. He took it. He blesses the work of our hands when we give it all up to Him, when we give back to Him the gifts that He has given us. I see all the mistakes on the screen, but God has blessed the film regardless. I think audiences see the heart at the core of the film, and it helps them not to be too critical of its imperfections. I think of 2 Cor. 12:9: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My parents, pastor, and Bible study teacher have truly influenced me over the years. Reading scripture and C.S. Lewis inspire me. And when I see a really good film or play, I feel motivated and excited to sit down and write.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: When God puts a desire deep in your heart, pay attention. Be faithful to act on it and trust Him to see you through. Even if its scary, difficult and painful. Press on. His grace is sufficient for you!
