Leather Bible Cover with Handles, Black, XX Large
High quality leather Bible cover, size XXL
I recently purchased an Allan Bible and needed a cover to protect it from the weather when taking it to church. I wasn't sure this Bible cover would be big enough, but it works, just barely, with some room to spare across the other, shorter dimension. (My Bible is just over 10" tall with its yapp extended beyond the page edges, but the flexible yapp will fold downward some so that it will fit.) The XL might have also worked (the descriptions say the longer dimension is the same for both), but I got the largest size, XXL.
I also wanted an attractive cover. This black leather cover is very professional and dressy looking, although pricey, and seems to be well made. The leather is beautiful and very supple, and is lined inside with a black synthetic fabric. The small pewter cross charm adds just the right extra touch. The leather has a small grain and a semi-matte appearance, very nice (see pictures). I also like that the cover is made in the USA.
The cover has a single black zipper that extends around three sides, allowing the open cover to lie very flat. The handles can fold under when the cover is open, and the cross charm is attached around the hardware with a small string which could easily be snipped off with no damage. Outside, there is a full-width open pocket on each side of the cover which can hold a bulletin, etc. The back looks just like the front except for the cross charm. Inside, there is one fabric pen loop, and open pockets/flaps to hold a Bible's front and back cover or papers if you wish. (Bible manufacturers advise to not use these flaps on a Bible's cover, nor carry a Bible with its spine up, as these can damage the Bible's binding.) This cover, with the handles at the top, allows the Bible to be carried safely with its spine down.
The cover also easily fits my leather Zondervan Life Application Study Bible, which is much thicker but a little smaller than the Allan NKJV. There is a little extra space on the shorter dimension (width of the Bibles), so the XL might also possibly fit study Bibles.
Because the leather of this cover is very soft and flexible, exact measurements are hard to take, but the outside dimensions of the front piece, from seam to seam, are about 10 x 7 5/8". The inside, between the outer edges of the fabric liner's edge binding, can measure a little more, because it can flatten out, overlapping some of the "thickness" dimension of the cover. The cover is flexible, so to a degree, some of the thickness or height can be used to increase the L or W slightly, or vice versa. I hope that helps rather than adding confusion.
Although more expensive, this cover is nicer than the usual cover, provides a lot of protection, and seems durable. It's available in four sizes, and I was glad to find it in a size that will accommodate my Bible's longest dimension.

After searching for a cover that would fit my Note Taker's Bible, I decided to give this one a try. I was impressed that it fit my oddly-proportioned Bible very well. The handles are quite long and get in the way. But this was the best choice in the size range that I needed. I like its simplicity. The leather is very nice.
