I really appreciate LLATL. I have used it now for 5 years and I can tell you, it works! The Purple book is one of my favorite years. My kids like the books they are reading, and I like the "no planning needed" part of it. Two thumbs way up!

I love the bringing in of classic literature. The very nature of this type of study enable the child to grow in his/her reading comprehension. The spelling lessons stem right out of what the individual student needs to learn by using classic style of writing a portion of dictation and using the misspelled words as the spelling words for the week. If there are no misspelled words there is no need in wasting precious time just teaching what is already known, which children find boring and redundant. Refreshing to both student and teacher for student paced study. Easy to process - simple to instruct.
