Jesus often told stories in the forms of parables to instruct his followers.
By using this method the authors use the characters and their experiences to help leaders relate to the situations and circumstances and hopefully grow from them (seeing how they can apply the key points and theories in their own lives).
While I appreciate the effort, and the principles explained, I think I would have actually preferred more of a text book approach.
