E1 Stars Out Of 5Bad, non-Classical pronunciationJanuary 25, 2015EI've actually not purchased the CD, but--in considering it--listened to the audio clip above.
I'm sorry to give such a negative review but the speaker's pronunciation is terrible and so lifeless.
Having some exposure to Latin--beautifully spoken at that--and being a lover of language, I'm a bit of a stickler for pronunciation.
Also, our family's been studying the Classical pr.--where, for example, the "c" is always hard and the "v" is pronounced as a "w". And no matter your choice between the Classical pr. or the Ecclesiastical pr., which it appears she's speaking, the "r" should always be rolled.
The text books look great! But, regretably, based on the clip above, I don't think I'll be getting this CD.
ammaceGender: female2 Stars Out Of 5Meh...August 1, 2014ammaceGender: femaleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1This cd is dry and boring as she speaks in a very monotone voice. While I did not expect silliness, or a sing-song type, a little inflection in her voice could have made a huge difference. My ds and I also have a hard time understanding the pronunciation as it's not always clear. I think if you've taken Latin before, this wouldn't be such a problem, however this is my first experience with it. While this cd goes with the curriculum, I think there are better out there.
Jennifer Haney5 Stars Out Of 5September 21, 2009Jennifer HaneyLike the book, this audio recording is very "black & white" but its "uncluttered" appproach is one that keeps it simple. Though the exercises are rote, they provide a predictable pattern for my son to follow. Some may consider it dry, boring, and dull, but it is straightforward and aims for memorization of verbs and conjugation. If you're going to buy the book, the small investment of this CD is worth it.
