Kathi Macias in her new book, "Last Chance For Justice" published by B&H Publishing Group brings us into the life of Lynn Myers.
From the back cover: Welcome to Bloomfield, where life is simple, love is real and stories are shared.
Lynn Myers is still reeling from losing her husband of thirty-five years when word comes that her only sibling, an older brother, has also died. With no one else to settle the estate, she must return to her small hometown of Bloomfield, however briefly, to settle his affairs.
Lynn's daughter, Rachel, has just graduated from Bible college and with no other commitments comes along to sort through her uncle's huge old home, right next to the local cemetery.
It isn't long before Rachel has two men — a handsome CPA and the youth pastor — seriously vying for her attention. At the same time, Lynn's attention is drawn to a set of journals her brother has left behind detailing a long-standing Bloomfield mystery.
As they pursue solving this mystery, Rachel must make some personal decisions about her future, while Lynn is forced to face unexpected issues from her own past.
Where can you go to pick yourself up when you have two devastating traumas in your life? Lynn just lost her husband and then received the news that her brother died. Now she and her daughter have to go home to her roots to settle his estate that he left to her. You wouldn't think it but Bloomfield is a restorative. It's the people who live there, they all have their quirks and faults just like everyone else but they have the ability to reach into Lynn's broken heart and help the healing. Then Rachel gets involved in a mystery that her brother was trying to solve before he died. It seems that there was a man named Last Chance Justice and he died with the scandal of thievery of $7.14 to his name. Bloomfield is the town where names are cleared, the past is restored, the future begins and love abounds. Bloomfield is a really nice town where great characters live. "Last Chance For Justice" has a great mystery, wonderful characters that we grow to love and care for and is a terrific read. I highly recommend it.

Kathi Macias writes a hometown tale reminiscent of Anne of Green Gables, yet with a modern-day twist in Last Chance for Justice: A Bloomfield Novel.
She masterfully weaves a tale of mother-daughter love, complete with small-town gossips, a sweet romance, and a bit of mystery. I was enamored by the uplifting story, endearing characters, and the snuggle-down tale of loss, love, redemption, and discovery.
Kathi Macias' writing in this book flows flawlessly from beginning to end. I noticed in another review that someone had the same thought that I did about the writing reminding us of the Mitford Series.
I loved the two main characters, Lynn, the Mom and Rachel, the daughter. I loved the way both of them put God first in their daily lives, the way they loved each other, and the way they opened themselves up to new adventures together.
There is an old mystery looming that needs to be unraveled, new friends and old friends to meet and renew friendships and maybe more, an estate to settle and lives to settle.
This is a very easy book to read and I would recommend it to Young Adults and Adults alike. Last Chance for Justice was the first Kathi Macias book that I have read and I now plan to read more, I would love to find out about other people from Bloomfield, plus other books she has written.
