This series is a wonderful insight to the burdens and struggles of those who came to the United States from other countries to settle in the Dakota Territory during the 1800's.

great 1800's fiction
I have really enjoyed the Red River series, including A Land To Call Home, by Lauraine Snelling. If you like historical fiction from the 1800's this is highly recommended. It's also suitable for pre-teens/teens as well. The characters truly rely on their faith and the hope that is packed in the bible. This is so hard to set down once you get reading..

I have all six of the bookks in Red Riverr of the North. I am currently on finishing the forth book. In writing them Laurine almost makes you feel like you are part of the community.
They are very well written, and I would recomment the highly. It gives us an idea of what our ancestor's went through when they came from Germany to America, years ago.

I came upon the last books in this series by Lauraine Snelling and was extremely interested in buying the series of Red River and the Borjlunds. I just had to know how the story all began. These books are so addictive. Each person involved either is one of God's children or becomes part of His family. These stories reflect the faith that grew through horrendous hardships. But love from the Father and each other kept them going and growing.
