This new spirituality of knitting addresses topics such as knitting as a popular pastime, what knitting does for our minds, bodies, and spirits, and how knitting helps people reduce stress, overcome loss, form friendships, and connect with a community. Most important, the author shows readers and crafters how knitting can become prayer.
Peggy Rosenthal has a PhD in Literature and has published many books and articles on spirituality and the arts, including Praying through Poetry. She is the director of Poetry Retreats, a nationwide arts ministry, and blogs on spirituality and the arts for Image journal. And, yes, she is a daily knitter.

If you're looking for a book that gives you a peek into how to pray WHILE you're knitting, then this book gives many examples and suggestions which can lift your regular day to day, week to week knitting into a more spiritual experience.
Since I had followed the Pray for 40 days book in the series I sort of expected this book to be more of prayer diary like that book, but it was not, which was probably what through me off in my expectations of this book.
I read the book from beginning to end, and enjoyed it. I will not knit the patterns as they are very simple, and I'm an expert knitter and need more challenge.
