Tell us a little about yourself. Im married, have three daughters, and live in Tennessee near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
What was your motivation behind this project? I like to write from the place of moral dilemmas. This book grew out of the question, Whats more important, truth or justice? When I first started writing The Knight, I thought I knew the answer to that question, but while writing the book I ended up switching my view. It was quite a journey.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope readers will enjoy the suspense, explore the moral issues raised, and prioritize, in a new way, the importance of loving others and protecting those who dont have a voice or a chance to speak up.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I found new insight into the moral questions revolving around telling the truth versus protecting the innocent. Writing the book forced me to study Scripture to see what Gods view of this topic is. So, just like with all of my novels, the book became a personal quest that helped me grow in ways I never expected.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I love reading prayer books, poetry and books on the art of writing. Surprisingly, I dont read that many thrillers, even though thats what I write. Im a little weird that way.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: For nearly a year as I worked on The Knight I thought I knew who the killer would be, but in the end, I discovered I was wrong and someone I never expected revealed himself to me as the villain. So, during the final edits, I made the change in the manuscript. It made the story better, but it also sets readers up for a challenge: if you can guess who the bad guy is youll have done a better job at deducing him than I did. Have fun and good luck!
