This Lectern Bible has been produced with traditional knowledge and skill by the Cambridge University Press, the oldest Bible printer and publisher in the world. Trained craftsmen gathered the printed pages for sewing and gilding, working in much the same way as their forbears did. The silk ribbons and tail bands and binding cases involved patient hand work. This edition has a black goatskin leather cover and gilt, gold-red edges. Features include large print for easy reading, center column cross-referencing, three ribbon markers and a presentation page. Measures 12" x 10" x 4".

KJV Pulpit Bible with the Apocrypha, Goatskin Black 3.7 5 3 3

A MUST Have I am a man that is a lover of the Bible. I have all types of Bibles in all types of translations. I usually collect fine Bible with goatskin, calfskin and other leathers; however, the only thing that I was missing was a Lectern/Pulpit Bible. I just never saw the need of having such a large edition. Well, since then I was call to be one of the Pastors of a EFCA church in Pennsylvania, and received an office that is at the church. So I no longer had to worry about carrying a large Bible to church; now it can stay on by desk or in the pulpit. With that being said, I figured that it was time. So now I have this edition and fell in love as soon as I opened the box! This things bleeds quality. The weight of the paper is perfect; it feels like you are turning a piece of cloth instead of paper. The paper is also super white and the ink is the darkest print I have ever seen in a Bible. The words on the page seem to be "alive" almost. You can tell much time was taken in printing this Lectern Edition correctly. In addition to that, the paper is as opaque as it gets; no worrying about ghosting with this Bible. The gilt page edges are a thing of beauty for sure. You can tell that this is not the spray on gilt that publishers are using now. This is the real deal; sheets of gold foil pressed onto the edges. When the Bible is closed, the gilt looks like a solid gold bar! Now that is quality. The pages are sewn to perfection by hand and lays flat from Genesis to Revelation. It even has overcast stitching in the front and back of the Bible for extra support. This edition also comes with 3 long and thick ribbons to help you keep your place while reading. Normally Cambridge Bibles have a tendency to have ribbons that fray, this edition does not suffer from sub par ribbon selection. Cambridge is so concerned about quality with these Lectern Bibles I believe, because of the cost of the investment. Cambridge even goes out of the way to give you a special letter with the Bible to tell you the special care they take in making these Bibles. It Has Typo's !! Here are the errors that i reported to Cambridge today - I have found several mistakes in the printing of my lectern KVJ Holy Bible andÃÂ I have not even completed reading all 66 books of the Bible yet. Three errors to date. Amos 5:20 (page 841) is printed "shall not "tne" day of Joshua 19:10 (page 239) the word "was" is incorrect (struck over) 1 Samuel 21:8 (page 300) there is an extra period between the words neither and broughtÃÂ April 30, 2012

This bible is simply monumental. The paper, the leather, the print quality, and the gilding is everything one would expect from Cambridge. The edition itself is very plain, with only cross references. Remember this is a lectern bible: it's specialized use is public reading in church, so it is very large and heavy, with large, highly visible print. It is an excellent addition to a collection, if you are so inclined. October 29, 2005
