This is my favorite Bible off all time (and I've had, and still own, several translations.) Authorized King James Version is the most accurate, trustworthy translation of God's Word in the English language, but with it's archaic language, makes it a challenge for new believers, or those who didn't grow up with King James' Bibles. This bridges that gap and gives the trusted translation, yet edits the archaic words like "ye" and "thou" to modern equivalents, and keeps the others, but with underlining and simple definitions within the end of each verse. There's other great additions in the back of the Bible, too! I love it and recommend it to everyone.
The KJVER appears to be a careful update of the KJV text as advertised. A list of changed words appears in the front of the Bible, which I have examined. Thus far I have not found any doctrinal problems raised by the word changes, but I will be doing a more thorough check throughout the next six months or so. Modernized spellings, updated verb usage, capitalized personal pronouns referring to the deity, and alternate renderings of other possibly difficult words at the end of many verses are observable, as well as a number of cross references. My reason for a four-star rating rather than a five-star is that the helps section in the rear of the Bible contains a rather biased article on the premillennial view, rather than the millennial article found in the helps of the regular "KJV Word of God Sword Bible" which simply presented three views on the subject without taking sides. Frankly, in my opinion, the KJVER Sword Bible could retain its handy size and be more suitable to all Christians if it would include in its helps section nothing but the maps and a much more substantial dictionary/concordance (like the one in the regular KJV Word of God Sword Bible).
I purchased this bible for my 19 year old son. I love that the words of God in the old testament are in red. That's a feature I will be looking for in my next personal bible. This bible has wonderful study features and although it took us a little bit to understand the margin study guide it is helpful. The underlining of difficult terms is somewhat distracting and will take some getting used to, but otherwise I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to friends and family.
