The Dake Annotated Reference Bible is like no other study Bible on the market. More than twenty years of painstaking research went into it. With 35,000 commentary notes, 500,000 cross/chain references and 9,000 outline headings, the Dake Bible gives you more resources for personal study than you'll find in any other Bible. Period.
Yet it's not just the number of notes, references and headings that set the Dake Bible apart. It's what those tools do for you. Thousands of passages are amplified. Obscure readings are made clear. Ancient customs are explained, along with matters of history, culture and geography. Greek and Hebrew words and idioms are handled. In addition, parables, types, symbols, allegories and figures of speech are dealt with. Dispensational issues are treated in a systematic fashion, along with hundreds of details of biblical prophecy.
In other words, the Dake Bible is the ultimate tool to help you truly understand Scripture and "rightly divide the word of truth."

I so enjoy this bible, I can't put it down. With this bible I don't have to research as much. I have told lots of people about it. I gave one away as a Christmas gift and my hair stylist has purchased one.

I would not recommend this Bible to the novice. First get a good handle on solid Bible doctrine. Then you will notice how many of the notes in this Bible are wrong and heretical. I expected some of that (e.g. the millennialism and dispensationalism, which I disagree with). What I didn't expect were Dake's teaching that God has a physical body (Mormon's believe this!)--see notes on John 4:24 and Col 1:15. In other words, he takes what has been traditionally regarded as anthromorphisms literally! Dake says in the Preface to this Bible that he rejects all personal theories, but then right from the start gives us what has been called by others the Gap Theory in the Genesis creation account. This theory has been soundly refuted (see www.answersingenesis, or "Old Earth Creationism On Trial" by Chaffey and Lisle, pp. 165ff., or "The New Answers Book" by Ken Ham, pp. 47ff., which specifically mentions Dake and Scofield).
If you want to know the thinking behind heresies, then this Bible certainly gives you that. On the plus side, amidst the error, there is a wealth of information and lists. Dake gives the reader much to think about.
The four column format and correlation of notes (arranged alphabetically and not by verse numbers) takes some getting used to. The print is very tiny.

Many years ago someone recommended the Dakes Bible to me. I have and reread, marked and uderlined, I'll be purchasing a new one in the next few years I know. It is a wonderful tool in my study library for my devotional life as well as my pastoral ministry. Though I minister in another language (spanish) because of my calling, it is still my study bible of choice. It is so full of nuggets and perceptives on the Word it. Get it, you'll see.

I love the Dake Bible. I have given several of the Dake Bibles away to people at the oncology center, I encourage them to read the Word and the comments on healing.
