How is anyone going to call this a large print bible? I admit I should have known not to buy it when I saw "compact," but I never expected microscopic print like that. very disappointing. I bought 2 of them for friends that have poor eyesight and now I am stuck with them because I am the only one that can make out the small print.
This is a good value Bible, has very nice text and an attractive cover. The text and pages are well done and are reasonably durable, and it has good references, a short concordance, and full color maps.
The cover is bonded leather and is about average as far as those go. Don't expect it to hold up to moisture and other abuse like a high quality leather cover, but it's nice looking and does feel good.
For the cost, it's not a bad product- but keep in mind that it is a very cheap Bible and they did cut some corners. It has no ribbon marker and the binding is glued. It is also only attached to the cover by the edges of two pages, which means in hot or damp climate it will easily come off. It would have been much better if the fly leaves were thicker and all one page, so they would actually have to tear free before the cover falls off. However, they are each two separate pieces and it is at the junction that they are glued to the binding. I've already had to superglue one of these back together, and that was with very little use.
This Bible is very portable. The size is great for carrying in a purse, backpack, etc. The font (8 point) is big for a compact Bible; it's as big as some regular size Bibles. That said, remember that "large" print is relative to overall Bible size. If you need something that would be considered large or giant print on a standard Bible (say 12 point), this won't be big enough for you. My chief complaint about this Bible and the reason for the low rating is the layout. My preference for verse format aside, this isn't even in paragraph format most of the time. The chapter number designators are in larger type. This is often followed by a large block of text with no breaks until the next chapter. Even the Psalms and Proverbs are like this. Ugh! This makes for a poor reading experience that doesn't lend itself to Bible study, understanding, memorization, or even finding verses quickly. For this reason, I would not recommend this Bible.
